This Compact, low profile side entry downlight frame is specifically designed to suit common CFL globes (sold seperately).
The Jupiter downlight comes complete with a fully enclosed heat sink shielded lamp holder and a frosted glass diffuser.4

Are these downlights airtight - ie. can air flow between the room they are lighting and the ceiling cavity?

They are very close to.
They are sealed at the bottom so there would only be very minimal air flow.
