Yes they are. You just need to put a dimmer switch on the wall.

As long as the ceiling fan is compatible with a light then yes you could do that.

Hi we are going to buy the Hunter Pacific Typhoon fan as an undercover alfresco fan. We want to fit an Eclipse light to it, which is the most brightest option, the 100W, the 2 x 40W edison, or the 14w fluro? I know the fluro is the cheapest to run, we just want something bright enough to be able to use under the alfresco at night. Thanks!

The best would be 100w halogen, yes the fluro is cheapest but it isn't as bright.
