Cut your electricity costs by using these 18W Eco Friendly FLUORESCENT Downlights. They use 1/5 the power of a standard 50W halogen globe and lasts up to 5 times an long.

The light output is near equal that of a halogen globe and these globes use the same size frame that your normal downlights use, which means it's easy to swap out your existing costly halogen lights and replace them with these.

Best of all the globes connect straight to 240V so there is no need for a transformer.

I have jumped the gun a bit as I do not require these lights for a few months. Being a electrician, I dismantled one and connected it up to see what type of light output it would achieve.That is why I have marked this unit highly as it exceeded expectations.

Do these Downlight Kits require a fire-proof hood if there's insulation in the ceilings?

No these dont need a fire proof guard however just check with your electrician first just to make sure.

What is the difference between the cool white, warm white and daylight 18w fluorescent globes in terms of light output and does one use more electricity than the other or is it not worth worrying about.

Hi

The Warm White is similar to an incandescent globe, Daylight is a white light and Cool White is in between, more of an ambient colour.
They all use the same amount of energy.

Are these the same size as the lower wattage bulbs? I have been told elsewhere that 18w bulbs are larger and will protrude. Cheers

Hi

These globes are the same size as 240V and 12V downlight halogen globes and will fit into any frame that uses those globes.

They are slightly longer, they are about 100mm long.
