Cut your electricity costs by using this eco friendly downlight kit. It uses a fraction the power of a normal incandescent globe and can last up to 10 times longer.
Best of all it connects straight to 240V so there is no need for a transformer

This downlight is a complete kit including an integrated heat guard and a 15W Cool White fluorescent Globe.
These can be used in place of Halogen downlights to meet the 80% energy efficiently requirements for new homes.

Nestorovski from VIC Review of 'Energy Saving Fluorescent Low Profile Side Entry Downlight Kit' - 23 Aug The actual enclosure itself is pretty good but the included globe is the old type fluorescent, i.e. it takes a while to illuminate to full brightness. I would recomend changing the globes to the instant 80% light as soon as you turn them on.

What is the size of the downight diamter. I'm looking for a standard size downlight but witha side profile due to limited roof space.

Diameter is 110mm cutout is 95mm.

What is the approximate floor area covered by each downlight? For example, I have a living room which measures 3.5 x 4.5m (2.4m ceiling height) and I was considering 4 of these lights for this area. Is this too many or not enough?

Hi.

It is generally a personal choice. I just depends on how much light you are after.
In a room about that size you could go for either 2 or 4 lights.

I would proably go for 4 myself.
